The Hope dei Bambini (Hope for the Children) Stuff the Bus Project is powered by the generosity, compassion, and commitment of community volunteers. Volunteers are the heart of our mission, helping transform donations into opportunities that support children and families throughout the year. Whether assisting with school supplies, winter necessities, or fundraising efforts for youth enrichment programs, volunteers serve as ambassadors of hope and community service.
Becoming a Hope dei Bambini Volunteer
Joining the Hope dei Bambini volunteer team is designed to be welcoming, accessible, and rewarding.
-
Interested individuals begin by submitting a volunteer interest form through the organization's website or at a community event. The application gathers basic contact information, volunteer interests, availability, and areas of expertise.
-
New volunteers participate in a brief orientation session where they learn about:
The mission and values of Hope dei Bambini
The annual Stuff the Bus campaign cycle
Volunteer expectations and responsibilities
Safety procedures and child-centered practices
Community partnerships and service guidelines
-
Volunteers who may work directly with children or handle scholarship review activities may be asked to complete a background check consistent with nonprofit best practices.
-
Volunteers may choose to participate in one campaign or engage throughout the year. Flexible opportunities are available for individuals, families, students, retirees, civic organizations, faith communities, and corporate groups.
-
Volunteers are invited to participate in service events, community celebrations, recognition gatherings, and annual impact reports that highlight the difference their contributions make in the lives of children and families.
Volunteer Expectations
Hope dei Bambini volunteers are expected to:
Demonstrate kindness, respect, and professionalism.
Support an inclusive and welcoming environment for all families.
Represent the organization positively in the community.
Maintain confidentiality when working with recipient families.
Follow safety and organizational guidelines.
Arrive on time and communicate when scheduling changes occur.
Work collaboratively with fellow volunteers, community partners, and staff.
Most importantly, volunteers are expected to embrace the organization's guiding belief: Every child deserves hope, opportunity, and the support of a caring community.
The Volunteer Commitment
The Hope dei Bambini volunteer experience is more than service—it is an invitation to become part of a community movement dedicated to improving the lives of children and families.
Whether helping fill a backpack, distribute a winter coat, or raise scholarship funds for a summer camp experience, volunteers contribute to a year-long cycle of generosity that transforms compassion into action.
Together, volunteers help ensure that every child has the resources, encouragement, and opportunities needed to learn, grow, and thrive.
Through Hope dei Bambini, community members become partners in creating a brighter future—one child, one family, and one act of kindness at a time.
