Every Mile We Drive Connects a Child to a Community Opportunity

Mobilizing communities to ensure every child has equitable access to essential resources, learning experiences, and pathways for success.

We envision vibrant, connected communities where every child and youth has the tools, nourishment, and access to enriching activities they need to thrive.

The Hope dei Bambini Stuff the Bus Project is built on the principle that communities are strongest when neighbors help neighbors

By bringing together volunteers, schools, businesses, faith communities, and local organizations, Edward and Norman seek to transform generosity into action and create lasting opportunities for children throughout the region. Their vision reflects a growing national tradition of "Stuff the Bus" programs that mobilize communities to provide essential resources and educational support for young people.

Hope dei Bambini Stuff the Bus Project: A Year of Giving

At the heart of the Hope dei Bambini Stuff the Bus Project is a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience the joy of childhood, regardless of their circumstances. Throughout the year, the bright yellow bus becomes a traveling symbol of hope, collecting resources and bringing communities together to support children and families in meaningful ways.

As summer gives way to fall and a new school year begins, the bus launches its initial campaign, Back to School Backpacks. Community members, businesses, faith organizations, and schools come together to fill the bus with backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, calculators, and other essential school supplies. These fully stocked backpacks are then distributed to K–12 students who may otherwise begin the school year without the tools they need to succeed. By partnering with local schools and community organizations, the project helps ensure that children can walk into their classrooms with confidence, dignity, and excitement for learning.

When the colder months arrive, the focus shifts to Warmth and Wellness. During winter, the Stuff the Bus campaign collects jackets, blankets, food donations, and hygiene kits for families facing financial hardship. Working alongside shelters, churches, food banks, and service organizations, volunteers help deliver comfort and support during a season when many families experience increased challenges. The goal is not simply to meet immediate needs, but to remind families that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community.

As spring blossoms and summer approaches, the bus embarks on its third annual mission: the Outdoor Activity Fund. This campaign recognizes that childhood is about more than basic necessities—it is also about discovery, adventure, creativity, and belonging. Funds raised through community events and donations help provide scholarships and mini-grants for extracurricular opportunities such as summer camps, sports teams, music lessons, art programs, outdoor education, and leadership experiences. These opportunities allow young people to build confidence, develop talents, form friendships, and create memories that can shape their futures.

Together, these three seasonal campaigns form a year-round cycle of compassion and opportunity. From providing the supplies needed for success in school, to supporting families through difficult times, to opening doors for enrichment and personal growth, the Hope dei Bambini Stuff the Bus Project reflects the power of communities coming together on behalf of children. Each backpack donated, each coat collected, and each scholarship awarded becomes a reminder that when we invest in children, we invest in a brighter future for everyone.

"Hope dei Bambini reminds us that when a community comes together, hope becomes action. I am proud to support its mission of providing essential resources and creating brighter futures for Sacramento's children and families."
